Champion of racism?

I was watching 'Koffee with Karan' 2 weeks back and the new found champion of racism Shilpa Shetty was on the show. Karan Johar was describing her as the Spokesperson of racism and the lady herself was acting as a victim of racism and a preacher of equal rights.

I was just wondering a few remarks in a silly show and so much media hype and lo and behold we have a new champion of racism.I am sure Shilpa must not even know the great people who actually fought against racism.I really wonder what has happened to our social consiousness that we forgot all the great struggles against racism and are hell bent in praising some one who is not even sure till date whether or not she is a victim of racism.

Do we remember a young man called M K Gandhi who was thrown out of first class compartment in South Africa despite having the ticket as he was non white.Do we remember his years long struggle against whites that had its origin in South Africa.Do we remember Martin Luther King whose 'I have a dream' speech was one of the most influential speeches on civil rights.Do we remember his contributions to equality of races.Do we remember Nelson Mandela whose protests against Apartheid landed him in jail for 20 plus years.Do we remember Abraham Lincoln who dedicated his presidentship for the abolition of slavery.

Well, placing some people whose contribution is nil except some people teased them behind their back in the same league as these extra ordinary champions of civil rights and racism is a huge injustice and really shows how much of a pathetic society we have become.

I may be wrong in saying this , but really I cant agree to all this hype media creates .We just cant belittle the real contributions by great people by placing Shilpa in the same slot as them.
